Ngaphandle komehluko wokukhula ngokobulili (i-DSD) ebizwa ngokuthi ‘ iwusizo olukhulu’ kubasubathi, uFrancine Niyonsaba ube ngumsubathi wokuqala onale nkinga ukwephula irekhodi lomhlaba.

Umsubathi wase-Burundi uqede irekhodi langaphambilini le-2,000m ngesikhathi eqa umugqa ngemizuzu emihlanu namasekhondi angama-21, cishe imizuzwana emibili kunesikhathi esedlule.

Ukusebenza kukaNiyonsaba kungenzeka kuphakamise ukukhathazeka kwabanye abagijimi abancintisana emidlalweni ethile, kwazise vele bavinjelwe emidlalweni ye-400m neye-1,600m.

Uma abasubathi abane-DSD befisa ukuncintisana kumele baphuze imithi yokwehlisa inani le-testosterone ekhiqizwa yimizimba yabo.

I-DSD iyiqoqo lezimo ezingavamile ezibandakanya izakhi zofuzo, ama-hormone nezitho zokuzala, kufaka phakathi izitho zangasese. Ngokwe-National Health Service (i-NHS) ichaza ukuthi ukukhula komuntu ngokocansi kuhluke kakhulu kwabanye abantu.

UCaster Semenya waseNingizimu Afrika uyisisulu sezimangalo ze-DSD ngokuba avinjelwe ukuncintisana emidlalweni eminingana ngoba amazinga akhe e-testosterone ephezulu kakhulu.

Ngowezi-2019, inkantolo yokulamula yezemidlalo yamemezela ukuthi abasubathi abane-DSD “bajabulela inzuzo enkulu yezemidlalo” kunabanye abadlali.

Yize laba basubathi kungenzeka babe nethuba, uNiyonsaba uzozizwa ejabule ngokweqile ngokuba ngumnikazi werekhodi lomhlaba futhi akwenze ngendlela enhle kakhulu  ngesikhathi ephula irekhodi lesikathi semizuzwana engama-63 kuphela.
